Professor Louise O. Fresco (1952) is a writer, researcher and columnist for NRC Handelsblad. Among other works, she has written Hamburgers in Paradise and the novels The Cosmopolitans, The Utopians (shortlisted for the Libris Literatuurprijs), The Idealists and The Plant Hunter of Leningrad. During her long career, she has been Chairman of the Executive Board at Wageningen University & Research and the assistant director-genera at the Agriculture Organization of the UN, which leads international efforts to defeat hunger.
