They’re fifty. Paula, Vincent, Marc, Reina, Thijs, Froukje and Joris. They were the core of a weed smoking high school class in 1972. They would do everything different. They would never, ever use the word retirement, or deferred annuities, mortgage or alimony.

When two of them decide that they’re entitled to a carefree night on a Spanish hill, the cracks in their friendships are revealed. And it raises the question why Arend never lived to reach fifty.
