Minke Douwesz (1962) works as a psychiatrist. In 2003, she made her debut with the extensive novel Strict, which became a surprise hit and was reprinted four times within the first year. Her second novel, Away, appeared in 2009 and was equally well received. She was awarded the Anna Bijns Prijs in 2012.
