Jilt Jorritsma (1991) is a writer and historian. His debut novel Was has been longlisted for the Libris Literatuur Prijs and shortlisted for the Anton Wachterprijs. The Dutch newspaper NRC called Jorritsma the rising star of Dutch literature. He has won the Joost Zwagerman Essayprijs and the essay competition Nexus Connect. His essays and short stories have been published in De Gids, De Revisor and the Nederlandse Boekengids. He studies sinking cities at the Open University.
